The New Jersey State Library is a federal depository library. Federal publications and other information products are made available for free public use in Federal depository libraries throughout the United States and its territories.

Branches of the U.S. Government

The Constitution of the United States divides the federal government into three branches:

  • Legislative Branch - The Congress, made up of the House of Representatives and Senate, and special agencies and offices that support Congressional work.
  • Executive Branch - The President, Vice President and the Cabinet, as well as executive departments, independent agencies and other boards, commissions, and committees.
  • Judicial Branch - The Supreme Court and other federal courts.
