Your local public or school library may be interested in gently used books, CDs, and DVDs, so consider contacting them first. The following websites provide other possibilities for your donations or no longer wanted items.

• Vietnam Veterans of America
  The website lists guidelines for book donations. The organization picks up at your home. You choose the day, prepare and label items and leave outside your door for pick up. A receipt is provided whether you are home

• Book Prospector

  A used book company that selectively purchases the books that you post online. Their software controls what they will purchase. The company then attempts to resell your books. Your account is paid the 1st and 10th of the month.
• Discover Books

  Discover Books works with libraries to purchase and remove unwanted books.
• United States Book Exchange

  The United States Book Exchange supplies donated issues of scholarly periodicals, trade journals, magazines, and other serials to libraries worldwide.
• Zubal Books

  A Cleveland-based company that will find and sell books and journals that are no longer wanted by libraries.

• Better World Books

  A company that sells discarded and donated materials from individuals, libraries and book stores. The company picks up as well as mailing. A portion of sales proceeds go to the donor and literacy partner.
• Bridge of Books Foundation

  A site that gives instructions for donating books. This is a drop off point. They also provide receipts.
• Donation Town

  Donation Town is a nationwide pickup service that finds a charity that can use your books.
